About

The Elkhorn Lodge is a national historical designated property that has been in continuous operation for 134 years. It is the oldest guest ranch still operating in the Rocky Mountain region and the oldest continuously operating hotel in Colorado.

Nestled only 2 blocks away from Downtown, the Elkhorn Lodge remains one of the few guest ranches left from its 1870’s heyday. Here, patrons can get a taste of Teddy Roosevelt-era Western Hospitality and learn about this time period in American History.

Our primary product is historical ambience, not modern amenities, in our 30+ structures, including lodges and cottages.

Horseback riding, stables, cross-country skiing, wilderness camping, no license required and equipment supplied trout fishing, swimming in the National Park’s Elkhorn Creek, hiking on Elkhorn’s historical paths, shopping in Estes Park or pool at our Cowboy Hayloft and Saloon are just a few options.

Elkhorn is a national historical highlight situated in the Rocky Mountains. Not only is it registered as a National Historical Property, but it is also located at the base of Man Mountain- making it a sacred vision- quest site . In addition, Elkhorn holds the title for being the oldest documented religious site Colorado has to offer.

Experience rustic living in the Old West. Our TV-free rooms and outlying cabins are vintage relics from the past, all of which have been updated to the 1890s luxury of indoor bathrooms.
